Pre-Race Itinerary to Galilee

Monday, March 11 – Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV), be met and transferred to the Renaissance Tel Aviv Hotel or the Royal Beach Tel Aviv.  The rest of the day is yours to enjoy.

Tuesday, March 12 – Following breakfast, we will spend the day exploring Tel Aviv mostly by foot.  Our guided tour will begin in Rabin Square and continue to Old Jaffa, one of the oldest port cities in the world where we will visit the ancient ruins and walk along the Artist's Quarter.  The next stop is Neve Tzedek, the first neighborhood of Tel Aviv, built in 1887 and Nahalat Benyamin, the pedestrian mall of the city with a stop at Sheinkin, the lively and colorful street known for its unique shops, café life and youthful ambiance.  After lunch we will return to your Tel Aviv Hotel where you will have some free time before our Welcome Dinner in Jaffa.  (Breakfast and dinner included)

Wednesday, March 13 - Following breakfast and check-out we will depart to Jerusalem for a day tour of the New City and Old City.  We will drive to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of the city, visit the Tomb of King David and the Room of the Last Supper on Mt. Zion. Upon entering the walled city, we will visit the Roman Cardo and the famous Western Wall. Next we will walk along the via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Lunch is not included, but a restaurant will be recommended in the Old City.  After ample time of sight-seeing, we will check-in to our Jerusalem Hotel where you can enjoy a relaxing evening on your own.  (Breakfast included).

Thursday, March 14 - After breakfast, we will visit Yad Vashem, Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. Once inside the museum, it is a self-guided tour.  We will plan to return to your hotel so that you have a relaxing few hours before we make our way to the Expo for your bib and race packet. You will find vendors for clothing, shoes, supplements and more! Immediately following shopping time at the expo we will proceed to the buffet pasta dinner, which is organized by the race and will be served at the expo venue.  The group will be transferred back to their respective hotel following dinner. (Breakfast and pasta dinner included)

Friday, March 15 – Race Day! Breakfast will be available early.  If staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the group will meet in the hotel lobby to walk to the race start together.  Those at the Orient Jerusalem will meet in the lobby and transfer by coach bus to the start.  After your race, enjoy the family festival at Sacher Park and return to your hotel at your leisure.  For those interested, an optional tour will be offered to Bethlehem in the afternoon (pre-registration required).  Tonight we will gather for a celebration dinner at a local restaurant. (Breakfast and celebration dinner included)

Saturday, March 16 - Today is a full-day excursion to the ancient ruins of Masada and the Dead Sea. Be sure to bring your bathing suit, towel, sunscreen and water shoes so you can experience floating in the Dead Sea!  Lunch will be available for purchase at the Masada Café or a nearby cafeteria.  Upon returning to Jerusalem enjoy your final dinner in the city at one of the many local restaurants. (Breakfast included)

Sunday, March 17 - The morning is on your own to enjoy or you can choose to visit the Israel Museum, which is the largest cultural institution in Israel and is ranked among the world's leading art and archaeology museums. This is where the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest biblical manuscripts in the world are housed. Pre-registration is requested. Includes entrance fee and transportation to the Museum. In the early afternoon we will depart Jerusalem and make our way to Tel Aviv.  Tonight will be our farewell dinner held at a local restaurant.  (Breakfast and farewell dinner included) 

Monday, March 18 – Departures or post-race extension to Petra, Jordan.

Please note that this itinerary involves a lot of walking, some on cobblestones such as Jaffa, Old City, and Masada.
