We invite you to read what others had to say about their Tokyo experience.
I received my Six Star, so hard to beat the feeling of accomplishment. The commradere of the
group, being so well taken care of/supported by the Marathon Tours staff and the Japanese
people themselves....are all tied for next best.
I love meeting fellow runners from the Marathon Tours group, great camaraderie, great stories,
great fun! Insights on the course, start area, recognition of Seven Continents Club and AbbottWMM Six Star finisihers,
you truly feel like a community when you travel with Marathon Tours!
Every Marathon Tours trip is unique in its' own way. The Park Hyatt was incredible as was having the chance to experience Tokyo in general. The post race gathering at the Park Hyatt was also outstanding. It was a wonderful experience.
Communication with the Marathon Tours and Travel staff was excellent. Nicole was very
responsive, and incredibly helpful. Her emails with trip details were thorough and easy to
understand. I was nervous about traveling to a country that I didn't speak the language, but felt
much better with all of the detailed information that was provided.
One of the things I appreciate most is that Marathon Tours plans
everything, all I have to do is show up. I love the people on this tour - staff and other travelers!
How do you manage to put together such a nice group of people to travel with? I love how
knowledgeable the staff is about the race and the destination.
I think Marathon Tours has an exquisite trip to the Tokyo Marathon. There really isn't a thing I'd change. Also, I should mention that each member of the Marathon Tours staff (I will not mention all the names as I fear I'd leave someone out), went above and beyond to make the event amazing. Then on the Kyoto extension, Nicole (who from the very early planning stages amazed me with her responsiveness and attention to detail) and Alyssa were THE BEST.
Marathon Tours took care of the details - I didn't have to do a lot of pre-trip planning. I knew things would move along smoothly. I also appreciated Marathon Tours lining up the Six Star Finishers Medals - we just let you know it was our 6th and you handled everything from there. Thank you!
How can we improve this trip for the future? Nothing really other than make sure people know the value they are getting from the package in terms of the city tour and lunch and two dinners. And breakfasts included with hotel. Real value here that I hadn't appreciated ahead of time.
What I liked best about this trip with Marathon Tours is their organization. Great hotel, delicious breakfasts that are included in the package and a sightseeing tour with a buffet lunch that is over the top! From the amazing view to the delicious meal, they really pay attention to every detail. I know that when I book with Marathon Tours my hotel will be excellent with a great location. I only have to focus on the race, because they have taken care of the rest
I loved the city and its people. Food was absolutely great, no wonder why Japan holds more Michelin starred restaurants than any other country. Their commitment to service is astonishing... I can't mention one single thing I liked the most.
I hadn't realized from the Marathon Tours website how many activities were included in the package, nor that the hotel was so extremely close to the marathon start point. So the only recommendation I can give is maybe sell your package more strongly, because it was a great deal.
Everything was planned perfectly. Nicole and the Marathon Tours staff did a fantastic job in communicating everything that was needed, such as tips about getting to the hotel from the airport, places to visit, and what to expect about the race registration process.
To be honest I booked through Marathon Tours because it was the only way I could get entry to the marathon. So I was amazed by how much I enjoyed the tour - I had no idea so much was included like the day tour and the lunch, and the function at the Park Hyatt. It was so easy and well organised and excellent value for money.
Seriously, everything was top notch. The Hilton was in the perfect location and I like that it was so close to the Shinjuku train station, The lunch on the city tour was amazing with the unbelievable views of the city. I was so glad I did the snow monkey tour. The lunch experience and the monkey park were perfect. I really can't thank the Marathon Tours staff enough for the outstanding trip.
I liked the extension. The hotel was in an ideal location, our tour guide was excellent, and I liked that we broke up the temples with a tea ceremony and sake museum. I like the time we had to do some shopping in Kyoto and liked the shrine at the top of the mountain.
The tours that were set up for us were amazing and well planned. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and we learned so much about Tokyo and Kyoto history. We really enjoyed our days in Kyoto, our favorite stops being Fushimi Inari, the Emporer's Palace and the Sake museum. All of the travel from trains to bus was very well organized with good communication throughout the trip from Nicole and Caitlin helped to make sure everyone was where they needed to be on time.
I thought the Hilton was a wonderful hotel. The breakfast buffet that was included with the room was worth it (and I don't normally eat much at buffets). It was the best breakfast buffet I have ever seen. The hotel was very conveniently located near the start line plus we had a great view of the race course from our room. I really enjoyed the race experience. I know that there are some people who don't think much of the Tokyo race as a Major but I appreciate that things are different in other countries. This race is something that showcases the Japanese people and their culture. I loved being there and part of the race. The Marathon Tours staff that I talked to were all very informative and pleasant when I had questions. I always felt like I was in good hands. The snow monkey tour was terrific. My husband is still talking about them!
The Marathon Tours staff is excellent. Tokyo is a challenging country and the team did a very good job in a very compact amount of time. I think some of the travelers do not realize how expensive Japan can be and the amount of information that MT was able to provide in this trip was great for the price.
The Kyoto accommodation were great. I loved Kyoto and the sights we saw. I loved getting to know the other runners on the extension. I also enjoyed exploring Kyoto on my own. I went for several runs, walks and a bike ride. A bike rental shop was a couple of blocks away from the hotel. For me, this is the best way to explore and get a feel for a new place.
