COURSE - The 26.2 course weaves through city streets starting in Receiro and finishing in Flamengo on a point-to-point course. With the Serra do Mar Mountains rising inland from Rio’s fabulous shoreline, this scenery with oceans to your right and mountains to your left, makes this event one of the more picturesque marathons in the world. The marathon starts at Praca do Pontal do Tim Maia – Recreio and finishes at Aterro do Flemengo. The half-marathon tour starts in Barra and takes you through the most famous beaches in Rio (Barra, Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana, Botafogo and Flemengo).
TEMPERATURE – July is the winter season in Rio, but the average temperature still is 70F (21C). The temperature drops to a comfortable 68F in the evening (18C). July is also one of the lowest months for rainfall.
ENTRY FEE - Entry to the marathon and half-marathon is $80 per person and $65 for the 6K.
ELIGIBILITY – The minimum age limit for the marathon is 21 years old, 18 for the half-marathon, and 12 years for the 6KM race.
TIME LIMIT - The course time limit for the Marathon is six (6) hours.
NUMBER PICKUP – A time will be organized for the group to stop at the Expo to pick up your race bib during the city tour. The Expo is open May 31, June 1, and June 2 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on the second floor of the Sui America Convention Center (Centro de Convencoes Sul America - Ave Paulo de Frontin 1-2 - pavimento).
