Thursday, November 16 - Upon arriving in Havana and clearing immigration/customs transfer to your hotel in Old Havana where you will be greeted by your Marathon Tours & Travel hosts. An afternoon ‘loosen the legs’ short run is an option for the afternoon or enjoy free time on your own. We will gather this evening for our Welcome Dinner at the Restaurant Atelier. (Dinner included)
Friday, November 17 - The day will start with an optional short training run along the Malecon led by Marathon Tours staff. Upon returning, enjoy breakfast and be ready to depart for a day, which will include a visit to a Cigar Factory, a walking tour of Old Havana, Lunch at the famous La Guarida Restaurant, and a visit to a local school. Tonight enjoy dinner on your own. Several restaurants will be recommended by your guide. (Breakfast and Lunch included)
Saturday, November 18 - After breakfast we will depart for a visit to Ernest Hemingway's ‘country’ home Finca Vigia and enjoy lunch at El Divino, a private restaurant located at a beautiful nearby organic farm. This afternoon, will be a guided tour of the National Museum of Fine Arts (la Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes) in Havana. Tonight, we will gather at the Parque Central for a grand pre-race pasta dinner and the comradery of your fellow runners. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)
Sunday, November 19 - It’s race day! Breakfast will be available before you depart for the start, which is with-in walking distance from your hotel. The start of the marathon, half-marathon, 10k, and 5k is located in front of the Capitolio, the national capital building designed after the USA Capitol. The start time is planned for 7:00 AM. You will run through Havana alongside island residents as the course takes you through the streets of the colonial city, passing through its historic monuments. Upon finishing, celebrate your achievement in Old Havana and return to your hotel at your leisure. (The Marabana Award Ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 AM.) Tonight, we will enjoy dinner and a congratulatory cheer at a nearby venue. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Monday, November 20 - After breakfast, those on the four-night package will bid farewell to Cuba as you board your flight back home. If traveling on the six-night package with your bags packed we will depart for Varadero in The Matanzas Province where we will make home for the next two nights. On the way we will visit the first pharmaceutical museum in Latin America, which has been open to the public since 1882. You will also walk across Parque de la Libertad and enter into the recently refurbished Teatro Velazco. Once we arrive in Varadero, you will check-in to the all-inclusive Hotel Melia Las Americas and a free afternoon. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)
Tuesday, November 21 - This morning, visit Finca Coincidencia, located in the Jovellanos municipality in Matanzas. You’ll have a chance to learn about sugar production, different crops, visit their ceramic workshop, and gardens of exotic plants. Lunch will be shared with the owner and workers of the farm. This afternoon will be a program in and around the capital of the province, known for its regional importance, culture, and Afro-Cuban folklore. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel. (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included)
Wednesday, November 22 - Today is departure day. Time of departure will be announced at a later date. (Breakfast included)
