 RIO DE JANIERO MARATHON ITINERARY Depart USA - July 3rd evening departure from your home airport.
July 4 Arrive in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, surrounded by gorgeous mountains, ocean waters and beautiful people. The name of the city is synonymous with sun, fun and rhythm of the sensuous samba. Few places on earth can match the hospitality, natural charm, beauty and excitement of this city. Now its your turn to discover it. Welcome reception at the hotel. July 5 Half day sightseeing tour. Visit famous Corcovado Mountain - a short and scenic train ride through the forest takes you to the summit. Here, 2,400 feet above the city, stands one of South America's most famous and inspiring landmarks -- the 125 foot statue of "Christ the Redeemer." The panorama of the city below is testament to why most visitors consider Rio one of the most spectacular cities in the world. We will make a schedule stop at the Expo to pick up our race kits.
July 6 Free day to explore Rio de Janeiro at your leisure.
July 7 Race Day! Transportation to the race start is provided from your hotel. Plans will be made among the group to have a post-race celebration and dinner for those interested. July 8 For those interested in purchasing an optional half-day tour before flying home, let us know if you are interested and we will arrange for one. Transfer to the airport for flight back to USA. OPTIONAL TOUR TO IGUASSU FALLS July 8 Transfer to the airport to board your flight to Iguassu Falls Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Then depart on your Half day Brazilian side of Falls: The Iguassu Falls, one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. Iguassu consists of over 275 separate cataracts across a span of 2 ½ miles, comprising 2 countries: Brazil and Argentina. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Brazilian side of the falls Your tour begins at the Iguassu National Park where we drive through the lush, subtropical vegetation of the park en route to the falls. Than stroll the trail descending the canyon that offers a panoramic view of the more than 240 falls. Take the glass elevator up the cliff face for an exquisite view from the upper deck. July 9 Half day Argentinean side of Falls This morning you will cross the border to visit the Argentine side of falls. Then cross the border to reach Iguazu National Park,one of the first protected areas in South America they were declared Mankind Heritage by UNESCO. From the Visitor's Center, located in the Falls area, you will take an open train to make a 15-minute journey up to 'Cataratas Station'. From there you will walk in the paths and lookouts of the superior and inferior paths, admiring really closely the imposing 275 waterfalls which precipitate to the river from a height of 70 mts. and also the amazing variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies. Then you will take the train on to 'Garganta Station' and from there you will descend walking 1200 mts. to the Devil's Throat balcony, to share one of the greatest shows on earth. In the afternoon you’ll return to the hotel. July 10 Private transfer out from hotel to airport to board your flight to Rio with connection to the US |
