Thom founded Marathon Tours in 1979 and has been the front-runner in destination marathon travel ever since. His previous professional experience with British Airways, Air Canada and a tour wholesaler enabled Thom to start a career that combined his knowledge of the travel business with his passions for running and adventure.
Named the top specialist in running-related travel by Condé Nast Traveler magazine for the past nine years, Thom has also been featured in Runner’s World, the front page of The Wall Street Journal and on the cover of Travel Agent magazine.
Thom personally leads groups to marathons in Bermuda, France's Bordeaux region and more including Antarctica where he is the race director and expedition leader for the Antarctica Marathon.
A former president of the Greater Boston Track Club, Thom has run 62 marathons around the world with a personal best of 2:30:42. An avid golfer, he holds a 4 handicap and admits that he is hopelessly addicted.
Jeff first found Marathon Tours as a client while pursuing his interest for international adventure travel. He is respected for being an innovative corporate and philanthropic leader with a passion for helping clients accomplish their goals. Prior to joining Marathon Tours, Jeff enjoyed a 27 year career in various client centric leadership roles at Morgan Stanley.
Having run 20 marathons in the last five years, Jeff is a middle of the pack runner who enjoys a good challenge - like running the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon and B.A.A. Boston Marathon on consecutive weeks. He is also an avid climber, skier and paddler.
Jeff is proud to have been a Founding Board Member and Past President of the Make A Wish Foundation in North Texas and to currently serve on the National Board of Back on My Feet.
Scott has been providing specialized travel services to Marathon Tours clients for over 16 years. He has continued to hone his professional expertise by completing numerous travel specialist courses including those for Maui, Costa Rica, Bermuda and Italy.
Scott is trip manager for the Great Wall, Petra, Bagan Temple, Polar Circle, and Queensland, New Zealand marathons. He is also Marathon Tours ’ main liaison for charity groups who seek international travel services.
Scott has completed dozens of half marathons, five marathons, including Boston, and numerous Spartan races and Tough Mudders. He enjoys watching his son participate in running, wrestling and swimming.
Ann has joined the Marathon Tours team after spending five years working as Group Sales Manager for a domestic tour operator specializing in train travel. Since her 7th grade world geography class, she has had an interest in learning about all the world has to offer. During her time majoring in geography at the University of New Hampshire, her love of travel really kicked into high gear after spending a semester abroad in Australia. Let's just stay it was love at first flight! With her new position she hopes to expand her knowledge of the world.
Since joining the Marathon Tours Team Ann has since completed the Rio Half Marathon and the Big Five Half Marathon! She has her eyes set on the Medoc Marathon next! Ann currently manages marathon trips to Chicago, Paris, Comrades Ultra Marathon, Two Oceans, Big Five, Medoc Marathon, Napa to Sonoma, the Australian Outback and Rio in addition to being an Oceania Cruise Line Specialist.
With more than eighteen years of experience in travel logistics, conference planning, and marketing it has been a dream to blend her passion of running and travel with her career. She has completed nine marathons, including Boston, and many half marathons and local races.
Karen is a certified running coach with Road Runners Club of America, is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), earned her MS in Marketing Communications from the University of Kansas and BS in Economics/Finance from Bentley University. She is currently managing our programs to Antarctica, Big Sur, Cuba, Kenya, the Italy Coast to Coast Relay and New York City; and looks forward to the many new opportunities ahead!
Born and raised in Great Britain, Jacqui has worked on and off in the travel industry for over 20 years. She has traveled extensively and lived in numerous countries around the world including Dubai, South Africa, Jakarta and Uruguay before settling in the U.S. in 1980.
Passionate about running and adventure she has completed over 50 marathons and has competed in ultra events such as the Leadville 100, the Himalayan Stage Race, Alaska's Iditasport 100 and 350 and the Yukon Arctic Ultra ...... to name a few.
Addicted to the outdoors .... Jacqui lives in Boulder, Colorado where she enjoys trail running, hiking, climbing, winter sports and yoga. She spent her 2010 summer rehabilitating lions for six weeks in Zimbabwe.
Nicole joins us with eight years of professional experience in international and domestic group travel and flight management. From middle school age, she has had the travel bug and loved being on the road and exploring new places. With a year abroad and sometimes intentionally getting lost on a quaint cobblestone pathway in Belgium or Germany, it was the true history and beauty that struck a chord within her that keeps her travel passion alive still. She hopes to continue to expand her list of 17 countries visited to destinations such as Australia, Africa and simply...Hawaii! Nicole currently manages marathon trips to Reykjavik, Rome, Berlin, Easter Island, Marine Corps, and Tokyo.
Jen joined the Marathon Tours staff in 2011 and previously worked with Team In Training. Her passion for sports led to a degree in sport management and employment in Minor League Baseball and recreational facility management. Through her employment with Team In Training, Jen gained valuable group travel experience and has traveled to Disney, Dublin, and Honolulu with the charity runners. She is the trip consultant for the Virgin Money London Marathon, Dublin, Athens, Istanbul, Prague, Stockholm, London Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, Hawaii (including Maui and Honolulu), and Run Disney events.
Jen is a native of Rhode Island but has called Boston home for the last ten years. A runner as well, Jen has completed fourteen half-marathons, five marathons, and several triathlons. In her spare time you can find her scuba diving in Utila, Honduras.
