 ITINERARY November 7 - Depart from your home city to connect on an overnight flight to Athens. November 8 - Arrive Athens and transfer on your own to your hotel in the city center. Briefing and afternoon run to the Panathinaikon Olympic Stadium to loosen legs. November 9 - Breakfast is served each morning at your hotel. This morning we depart for a half-day city tour with visit to the Acropolis and the iconic Parthenon. Our Greek guide will provide an historic and cultural overview of ancient and modern Greece. Afternoon is free to explore Athens or to go race check-in. November 10 - Day free for race check-in, optional sightseeing, exploring the ancient Plaka or shopping. A special pasta dinner is planned for the evening. November 11 - RACE DAY! Transportation will be provided to Marathon for the race start. Those running in the 10K or 5K can walk to the stadium for their start. The hotel is a 12 -minute walk back from the finish line at the Stadium. Post-race celebrating on your own in the evening. We have reserved space at a traditional taverna with dancing and entertainment in the Plaka. Dinner is by reservation and is at your own expense. November 12 - Morning coach departure to the airport for those returning. Optional - Istanbul Extension (call for a flight quote) November 12 - Depart the hotel and head to the airport for your international flight to Istanbul. Upon arrival you will be greeted by the local guide and transfer to the Marmara Pera Hotel. Balance of the day is free to explore on your own. November 13 - After breakfast, we will spend an entire day exploring Istanbul, a fascinating city that straddles two continents. Today we wil visit the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia and end the day at Grand Bazaar. (Breakfast and lunch is included) November 14 - After a morning visit to the Spice Market. we will take a private cruise on the Bosphorus, which seprates Asia from Europe and connects the Marmara Sea to the Black Sea. We will have lunch at a local seafood restaurant. In the afternoon we will visit St. Savior in Chora (Kariye Museum) before we drive along the Golden Horn to enjoy a beautiful view of the city. (Breakfast and lunch is included) November 15- After breakfast we depart for the airport for your return flights. |
