 2012 ITINERARY May 26 (Sa) - Depart Miami for overnight flight to Santiago. May 27 (Su) - Arrive Santiago and transfer to the Hotel Atton el Bosque. Afternoon tour of the city with visits to the Pre-Colombian Art Museum, the Enoteca Wine Museum for some wine tasting and to San Cristobal Hill for a panoramic view of the city and the nearby Andes mountains. Join Marathon Tours for a small welcome reception at the hotel in the early evening. May 28 (Mon) - Drive to scenic Maipo Canyon, an area known world-wide for its quality wine. We visit the  Concha y Toro Vineyard's wine cellars and are given a detailed description of the wine making and aging processes. A wine tasting is also included. Afternoon at leisure. May 29 (Tue) - Full day tour via motorcoach to Vina del Mar known for its casinos, resorts and beaches and Valparaiso, Chile's main port for some shopping. Lunch is included. May 30 (Wed) - Depart hotel early this morning for transfer to the airport for Lan Chile 5-1/2 hour flight to Easter Island, one of the most isolated inhabited islands in the world. Arrive at 12:55pm and transfer to the Hotel.  May 31 (Thurs) - Full day of sightseeing around the island. We will visit Vaihu, an ancient ruin site; Ahu Akahanga, a huge platform with four fallen statues and according to legend herein lies the tomb of the first king of the island; Rano Raraku Quarry, the original source of the moais; past La Perouse Bay and the site of the largest standing moai; finally to Anakena, a beautiful archaeological zone and beach area.
June 1 (Fri) -Triathlon in the morning for those interested. Otherwise, plenty of time for sightseeing at your own pace or for reserving optional tours. In the afternoon there will be a 1/2 day tour of Orongo. June 2 (Sat) - Mountainbike race in the morning for those interested. For others, the day is free to explore the island on your own! Relax all day or visit other historical sites and villages. Evening pre-race number and t-shirt pickup plus a pasta dinner at the hotel. June 3 (Sun) - Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10K race day! The start and finish is in the center of Hanga Roa, the main town on the Island. Evening award ceremony and celebration dinner at Kaimana restaurant in Hanga Roa. June 4 (Mon) - Rest those weary legs and enjoy a beach day or a day of relaxation along the waters of the Pacific! June 5 (Tue) - Depart hotel later in the morning for return flight to Santiago and then connecting overnight flight back to Miami. June 6 (Wed) - Early morning arrival back in Miami.
