SAFARICOM 2015 Itinerary

June 24* - Arrive Nairobi airport and transfer to the Norfolk Hotel.  Airport transfers are included for those arriving at NBO Airport.

*If you want extra time to settle in to the time schedule or tour Nairobi, we recommend arriving in Nairobi on June 23.  Arrival dates, pricing options, and transfers will be provided.

June 25 - Transfer by vehicle to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy with a brief stop for a photo opportunity at the equator. Accommodations will be provided at the camp you have selected.  Please note - all reservations for Lewa Safari Camp are on a request basis. Late afternoon game drive tracking rhino, Grevy zebra and other wildlife. Lewa houses both black rhino and white rhino. With the protection of an armed ranger, we will be allowed to take a run in the bush among the wildlife.

June 26 - Game drives throughout the day. Pre-race pasta party, race briefing and race check-in.

June 27 - Safaricom Marathon and Half-Marathon start at about 7:00am. About 1100 runners (approx. 90% are Kenyan) will participate in both events. Many of the Kenyans are recreational runners and raise funds for charitable causes. Dinner celebration at the camp.

June 28 - Transfer to airport for return flights to Nairobi and overnight flights to connect to your city of origin or join us for a safari experience at Governor's Camp in the Masai Mara!  Opt to extend your stay one more night at Maridadi or Lewa Safari Camp and journey to the Mara on June 29th - we are happy to assist with both package options!

Masai Mara Option:

June 28 - Transfer to the Lewa airstrip for the 50-minute flight to Masai Mara National Park which is recognized by many experts as offering the world's best game viewing. Transfer to Governors Camp, a deluxe tented safari camp. After lunch you will enjoy your first game drive in the Mara.

June 29- 30 - Three game drives each day seeking a variety of wildlife depending on their natural movements. You can optionally book a walking safari on one of the mornings where you will be face-to-face with spectacular wildlife and learn about the local insects and fauna. You have a choice of two other options. A one-hour morning hot air ballon ride over the plains is the ultimate way to view the bush with an overhead gaze at the game below you.

July 1 - Transfer to the airstrip for the short flight to Nairobi to catch your return international flights.   Please ensure that all flight departures are after 9pm.

NOTES:

  • Itinerary may be changed based on the final number of participants.
