The Florence Marathon will celebrate its 28th running in 2011 with over 11,000 runners from 55 countries participating. The event is the most important road race in the Tuscany region and the 2nd largest marathon in Italy. Local TV provides three hours of live coverage.

ENTRY: 70 euros from July 1 - October 15; 90 euros from October 16 - November 15


A doctor's note attesting that you are fit to run a marathon must be submitted with your entry form. This is required by Italian law.

COURSE:
New for 2011: The Florence Marathon has changed the course for the 2011 race.  No longer starting at Piazzale Michaelangelo, the course now begins in the city, from Lungarno Pecori, just 500 meters from our chosen hotel.  You will run past the city's most historic sites including Piazza del Duomo, Catherdral Square, Piazza della Signoria, Pitti Palace, and the famous bridge Ponte Vecchio. This flat and fast course boasts the 4th fastest time on Italian soil by Kenyan James Kutto in a time of 2:08:40.

WEATHER CONDITIONS:
Expected temperatures range from 45 to 60 degrees.
