2010 Event Information

 

The Easter Island Marathon, Half-Marathon and 10K will host a limited field of 150 runners, about 50 of those are the residents of the island.

 

DATE:
June 4, 2010: Sprint Triathlon (500mtr-20K-5K) plus a relay
at 10:00 am
June 5, 2010: Mountain Bike Race (35K) - 10:00 am

June 6, 2010: Easter Island Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K: 10:00 a.m. start

 

TIME LIMIT: None. Walkers are welcome.

 

ENTRY FEE:
$150 USD for the marathon, half-marathon, 10K, triathlon or mountainbike.  For two events- $150 and all three events- $200.  Guaranteed entry after receipt of a completed  tour application form and  deposit by check.  All runners receive a commemorative tee-shirt and finisher's medal.


COURSE:
This out-and-back course begins in the center of Hanga Roa, the main town on the island and runs through the middle of the island to Anakena Beach where it turns around. The course is considered to be mostly flat at the beginning and end of the race and rather hilly during the middle miles. Water stops are every 5km. There will also be an "aid truck" with water, bananas, cookies, etc. that will run along the course. Be prepared to encounter cows or wild horses along the course. The local dogs love tourists and may join in the fun. The dog pictured above went the entire 26.2 and, as would be expected, was treated to numerous treats at the finish. Course map:

WEATHER CONDITIONS:
Expected temperatures range from 65F to 75F degrees. Rain is always a possibility.
