EXPLORE EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

April 23 - 26, 2012

Relax after the Virgin London Marathon for three additional nights in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Serving as the capital of Scotland for more than 500 years, this medieval city is the perfect starting point for your exploration throughout Scotland. From the much beloved Mary Queen of Scots to the current Queen of England, Edinburgh is steeped in royal heritage. Take in a visit to Holyrood Castle, just across the street from the hotel; board the Royal Britannia and walk where world diplomats from around the world have been entertained by the Royal family; or stroll around Edinburgh Castle.

Scotland and England share a bloodied history.  Home to William Wallace, better known as “Braveheart”, you can tour the rolling highlands and experience the thrill of reliving history where William Wallace battled for freedom. Visit Robert Louis Stevenson's boyhood home.  Stroll through the park that he used as the setting of his classics Kidnapped and Treasure Island.  Did you know that The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was based on a real person?  Find out who when you visit the pub that bears his name.

Remember the famous poet, Sir Walter Scott?  He also grew up in Edinburgh.  His famous works include Ivanhoe and Rob Roy, amongst so many others.

We will leave you ample free time to explore the city on your own.  During this free time you may want to organize a day trip to Loch Ness or visit the city every golfer knows, St. Andrew’s. Whether you want to visit Scotland for one of the above reasons or just to add Scotland in the passport, we look forward to welcoming you on this extension.
