Cycle through gently rolling countryside laced with extensive bike paths, historic ruins, royal castles, thatch-roofed farmhouses, and colorful fishing villages during this adventure on Sjaelland, the largest Danish island.
  
ITINERARY
Day 1, July 18 : Helsingør
Starting in Copenhagen, this morning we saddle up for our first ride, following the Danish Riviera along a picturesque coastline dappled with small fishing villages • Explore the town of Klampenborg, a popular beach resort • In Helsingør, marvel at the old guns still intact at the Kronborg castle, admire the handsome half-timbered houses in the town center and stand before Hamlet’s memorial grave at Marienlyst Castle • Cool off with a dip on Julebaek beach before dinner and a comfortable night’s sleep at the Hotel Marienlyst • (L, D) Overnight at Hotel Marienlyst
 
Day 2, July 19: Helsingør
Wake up to stunning ocean views and a day spent exploring the sights in and around Helsingør • Visit a 16th century water-powered hammer mill once used to produce guns, rifles and pistols in Hellebaek • Stroll the beautiful statue-studded alleyways and gardens of Fredensborg Castle, the summer residence of the Danish Royal Family • This afternoon, enjoy a picnic lunch at an open air market before touring the museum, chapels and gardens of Hillerød Castle, the most splendid achievement of the Danish Renaissance • (B, L, D) Overnight at Hotel Marienlyst
 
Day 3, July 20: Helsingør
Yet another day of cycling, this time to explore the fine beaches, windswept dunes and seaside resorts along Sjaelland’s northern coastline • Visit Hornbaek, one of the oldest fishing villages, and its 18th century church with votive ships hanging from the ceiling • Walk on one of the finest beaches in Denmark • Explore the harbor of Gilleleje, one of the most important fishing towns on Sjaelland, whose thatched cottages have retained their authentic simplicity • Follow the path to Gilbjerg Hoved, where philosopher Søren Kierkegaard often used to walk to admire the breathtaking view of the Kattegat and the Swedish coastline in the distance • (B, L, D) Overnight at Hotel Marienlyst
 
Day 4, July 21: Copenhagen
Reflect on your trip over breakfast before you take your one-hour shuttle to the Copenhagen airport in time for your flight home • (B)

Distinctive Accommodations
Nights 1-3: Hotel Marienlyst
The rooms at the elegant Hotel Marienlyst offer beautiful views of either the harbor or the property’s peaceful gardens. Footsteps from the beach and only short stroll to the marina, Kronborg Castle and the medieval center of Elsinore.
 
Meals
The hallmark of an Austin-Lehman vacation is our exceptional dining. Alcoholic beverages and related gratuities are not included in the trip price.
 
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
We will meet you in the lobby of your hotel in Copenhagen on Day 1. Your trip ends on Day 4 with a drop-off at the Copenhagen airport to meet the flight of your choice.
